Pantone, the global colour authority, have just announced their 'Colour of the Year' for 2017: Greenery 15-0343.

Symbolic of the prevalent global culture, the colour of the year is an expression of the collective mood and attitude.

According to the Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, the colour provides reassurance amidst the social and political turmoil and satisfies our need to rejuvenate, reconnect with nature, with each other and with a larger purpose.

We've been observing this innate craving for a connection to the natural world as the antidote to modern urban life for several years now. Greenery is nature’s neutral and is already well represented in our Treescape and Outside In collections.

This particular shade, Greenery 15-0343, is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. It is illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, that signals that it's time to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.

Greenery is a natural for application to interior design, as shown in this installation of our 'burrawang' treescape in colourway 77 on display at our showroom partner Cosh Living's Sydney showroom.

As Eiseman says, "Open spaces in interior and exterior design and floor-to-ceiling windows allow the green outdoors to become part of a room’s backdrop and ambiance. Adding Greenery through living walls, terrariums, botanically-themed wallpaper, paint, accent furniture and decor provides respite and breathing space. A Greenery-painted wall or piece of furniture delivers a pop of color, with the added benefit of creating the illusion of nature indoors. Bringing the outside in, the shade—like the plant life it represents—can improve self-esteem, reduce anxiety and heighten awareness of one’s surroundings".
